Ten Things…

…that I love… and that I hate.

In no particular order:

I love…

1. The ending theme to Portal.
2. The ending to Portal.
3. And pretty much everything else about Portal.
4. Especially the weighted companion cube.
5. Symbian S60 v3.
6. Sailing Clicker.
7. GameTap.
8. The craziness that is this year’s college football season.
9. A good weekend evening spent with friends.
10. That one special person… still.

I hate…

1. Bill Belichick.
2. Patriot apologists who act as if their poor sportsmanship is justified because they were caught cheating.
3. Boston sports fans, especially those who still think the Red Sox are better (i.e. less evil) than the Yankees, and ESPECIALLY the ones who are also part of the group mentioned above.
4. That every single column written by Bill Simmons from the last 3 months dealing with those 3 things listed above.
5. Friday Night Lights being moved to Friday nights.
6. Friday Night Lights seemingly changing to a different direction, because writers almost seem to expect the show to die.
7. Time Warner Cable and/or the modem they provided.
8. Texas’ mediocre college football season.
9. The amount of time required to spend on WoW to accomplish anything.
10. The knot I feel in my stomach whenever I see, hear, or even think of…

Portal…

…is amazing. Creative gameplay, good pacing, interesting characters (okay, so there’s really only one character), and the best ending credits/ending theme I’ve seen in a very very long time. I love this game.

Did I mention how good the ending theme is? Because words fail me at describing how incredibly awesome it is. The music… the voice… it’s… wow. Heaven knows how many times I’ll be listening to it over the next week…

But there’s no sense crying
over every mistake
You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake
And the science gets done
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are
still alive

Fantastically Adorable.

Every FF fan needs to see this.

And I need to get that book with the diagram of how to make that.

Gotta hand it to them…

Nintendo knows how to make games like nobody else.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is just awesome. Ocarina of Time was the masterful leap into the third dimension, and one would’ve thought that Twilight Princess would’ve been the same for a new control scheme. But this is the one. This is how a DS game should be done.

Everyone who owns a DS needs to get this game. Everyone who doesn’t own a DS and has any interest in good games should get one to play this game. It’s that good.
